The City of Rahway in partnership with local businesses and the Special Improvement District is excited to announce the Cherry Street Festival on Saturday, May 7, 2022.  

 

Downtown Rahway’s historic Cherry Street will host a day full of great music, food, culture, and family-fun for all ages.  The day will start with delicious breakfast available at The Rahway Grill and The Coffee Box.  Outdoor activities will start with peaceful yoga and guided meditation.   Later in the morning the street will get rocking with three local bands including Holzli, Hollow Molly, and Wishy Washy.

 

Lunch will include a variety of offerings from all Cherry Street restaurants and a pizza food truck.  Family activities consist of street sized Jenga, Connect Four, face painting and balloon sculptures.  In addition to the bands there will be a hip-hop dance performance by The Hive and a performance by the Rahway twirlers.

 

Mayor Raymond Giacobbe shares also shares his excitement for this event and highlighting E. Cherry Street. “I look forward to the debut of this event, which will bring together residents, visitors, and businesses in celebration of one of downtown Rahway’s most iconic and charming streets. I’m very proud of the collaboration between the businesses, City, and Special Improvement District which brought this concept to fruition.” 

 

Cherry Street businesses will feature special items, sales, raffles, and giveaways.

 

Schedule of Events

 

  • 8:00 AM – Restaurants Open for Breakfast
  • 9:00 AM – Outdoor Yoga
  • 10:00 AM – Guided Meditation & Soothing Sounds
  • 10:30 AM – Holzli band performs
  • 11:30 AM – Delicious Lunch – Restaurants & Food Trucks
  • 12:15 PM – Hollow Molly band performs
  • 1:45 PM – Street Performances
  • 2:15 PM – Wishy Washy band performs

 

Free parking is available all day in the Broad Street parking lot (located between Irving St. and W Cherry St.).  There is easy NJ Transit access from the Rahway train station.  In case of rain activities will be moved inside the businesses.
