Associated Humane Societies

Associated Humane Societies (AHS) provides animal control services to the City of Rahway. Residents can report lost animals or make general inquiries by calling 973-824-7080 from 9am until 5pm. Calls after 5pm and on holidays should be directed to the Rahway Police Department.

  • Non-Emergency calls such as general inquiries about lost pets and non-life-threatening issues (dog barking, cat fighting or wildlife in non-inhabited parts of a home) should only be made to AHS during normal business hours.
  • Animal Cruelty concerns should be reported immediately to the Rahway Police Department.
  • Animal Control is not responsible for marine mammals or dead deer.
  • Animal Control does not pick up rodents (i.e., rats, mice, voles or moles).
  • Canadian geese will not be picked up unless in need of veterinary care.

Deer Carcass Removal


To report a dead deer in a local roadway, please call (908) 789-3660. You will be asked to provide the location/road name, mile marker, distinctive landmarks, etc. Please be as exact as possible for location. 

State Roads: For state owned roads please call (609) 588-6211 or (609) 548-1248.

If the animal is on private property, the property owner is responsible for arranging to get the carcass to the side of road before removal.
