Rahway is a creative community of makers and innovators. By celebrating the people and places of our collective past, present, and future, our city is sharing the stories that make Rahway unique. Each year, nominations are submitted, and the annual Rahway’s Own winners are chosen based on achieved excellence in their respective fields and representation of Rahway as a place for innovation, creativity, and community.
The City of Rahway is proud to announce that nominations are now open for the Rahway’s Own Class of 2022! You can submit your nomination here. Nominations will close on May 1, 2022. Nominees must have achieved excellence in their field, have impacted and elevated Rahway and represent our city as a place for innovation, creativity, and community.
Over the years, Rahway's Own inductees have included individuals who have demonstrated excellence in many fields, including the arts, athletics, politics, public service, the military, and others. Some of the past Rahway’s Own honorees include Milton Friedman, Carl Sagan, Antonio Garay, and Daphne Lee, who were all Rahway natives. Others include Nikola Tesla, an inventor and engineer who, following his employment under Thomas Edison, established his own electric lighting company in Rahway in 1884.
