A reception prior to the event will begin at 6:00 PM in the lobby of the UCPAC featuring musical entertainment by pianist Andrea Pranzatelli. Light refreshments will be provided, and the UCPAC’s concession stand will be open for small snack food and drink purchases.

The State of the City event, hosted by Mayor Raymond A. Giacobbe and the Rahway City Council, will formally begin at 7:00 PM and feature performances by the Rahway High School Madrigals and the cast of Rahway High School’s production of Into the Woods, a presentation of plaques to the recipients of the Special Achievement Award, Volunteer of the Year Award, Artist of the Year Award, and Senior of the Year Award, and recognitions for the 2021 & 2022 Rising Stars and the 2022 Rahway’s Own.

Mayor Giacobbe will be delivering his sixth State of the City address and the first of his second term following his reelection in 2022. The Mayor’s annual speech will be accompanied by a video featuring highlights from the past year and Rahway’s goals for 2023.

“I take great pride in the City of Rahway, both as Mayor and as a lifelong resident. I look forward to State of the City each year as a time to gather and celebrate our incredible community. Our talented high school students will perform and we will have awards and acknowledgements for some of the outstanding residents that make Rahway such a special place. I hope to see you there,” said Giacobbe.

The event can be attended in person at UCPAC or viewed live on local access Channel 34.
